Welcome to my healing journey where I am learning to find the strength to let go of what once was and embrace the beautiful journey that lies ahead.
Paige's Slow Seeds Collection features 23 original watercolor and oil pastel paintings on handmade cotton paper. Each piece comes with a custom matte created from fabric or wallpaper paired with a custom frame created by Paige. Each piece is lovely as a stand-alone artwork or together as a small grouping.
A note from the artist:
I have been working on this collection for over a year and seeing the seeds I’ve planted blossom into my very own tulip garden collection warms my soul. These paintings are beautiful and disjointed. They are chaotic yet flow smoothly. They are filled with an abundance of love and so much heart ache.
This year was the year of healing for me. I’m healing from change - emotionally and physically. Personal relationships of mine are shifting, my art is evolving and my priorities are different than what they used to be. The sense of continuous change has been unsettling for me - it has created a deep sadness of losing what once was..
When I had my son, I felt myself loosing control of who I used to be, the drive to show up for myself..it wasn’t top priority. I was getting left behind and I realized if I continued to put myself last…I would lose myself for good so after the 100th meltdown, I booked my first therapy session. I look at all of them together as a collection and I like to think they support one another the way they supported me during these past 16 months of motherhood - they allowed me to slowly uncover this beautiful new version of myself.
This body of work is the outcome of forcing myself to find tiny pockets of creative play time. These bite size paintings paired with my new commitment to therapy has allowed me to find myself and my creative practice again. "Slow Seeds" simultaneously conveys grief and growth by capturing the pain of loss alongside the resilience and transformation that emerges from it.
Each piece is created with watercolor and oil pastels. When I was matting my work, I thought they looked too peaceful, too perfect..kind of like how motherhood is portrayed on social media these days. This idea of perfection was the complete opposite of what I was feeling..the plain white matte boards were not going to cut it - they needed to be louder, a touch more crazy and chaotic, loud and full of vibrancy with a hint of confusion and WTF. I decided to add additional design elements such as, fabric, wallpaper, lots of texture, color and pazazz with the hand crafted bobbin frames.
"Slow Seeds" embodies who I am and what I am currently experiencing on this healing journey of mine. To anyone experiencing big shifts and changes in their lives - this collection is for you.
